A portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2016

Manech : You spent pretty much an entire week looking through the window from inside our home, trying to fight the chaos that you could feel in your body. The chaos had a name, an ugly one : the flu. It took us all by surprise when you woke up on a Tuesday night boiling hot. It wasn't a quick one, rather the strong gnarly one. Once again you impressed us with the way you dealt with it. It was the hardest having to keep you at a somewhat safe distance from me and Marlowe as I was doing my best to protect your brand new sister from catching it. It wasn't the fun happy week we were looking forward to. It drained all of our energy, we all looked quite miserable yet you kept on lifting our spirits with your sweetness.
Marlowe : it was stressful trying to protect you from the flu. All I could do was to hold you tight against my skin and feed you with the milk my body amazingly produces for you. People around here say that mother's milk is the baby's gold. I can only agree. I have no doubt it gave you all the vitamins and good stuff you needed to stay healthy. I am still amazed today as we live in a small open space and I had nowhere to hide from the germs. We made it. You truly are my Lucky Girl.
